Season Two For Our Backyard

April 22, 2014

We have turned a corner. Spring is finally here. I see green grass and hear the birds chirping. We made everyone! We really did! Phew. Easter weekend was the perfect example that spring has arrived. With our families, Nick and I sat out on the porch all day, soaking in the sun, watching kiddies play and eating copious amounts of food. It was a lovely weekend.

After spending most of Sunday outdoors, I was reminded that we have still have some work cut out for ourselves this season to get out patio and backyard in entertaining shape. You may remember how hard we worked on our yard last summer season (click HERE for a refresher), but there is still some things left to do. However, it’s not the same type of back breaking work as last time. Instead, Nick and I can focus on making the yard comfortable and functional. Nick has already started work on a few things on our bucket list for the season, like our raised garden beds.
Here is a list (and some inspiration photos) of things we are hoping to accomplish this season:
1. Plant a veggie garden in our newly made raised beds.

2. Create a cozy area with furniture for warm summer nights to entertain.

3. Add some up lighting to our trees. This will help create depth in our yard at night.
via
4. Create a BBQ area, tucked away from our entertaining space.
via
5. Add some character to the yard… accessories, flower pots, etc.

Doesn’t all this planning and inspiration get you excited for summer? I certainly am. What’s on your to-do list this season?
