Herringbone Flooring

November 6, 2012

Herringbone is a pattern that is classic, timeless and extremely versatile. It can go either with contemporary or traditional design. It is seen all over the runway and in the home. I cannot get enough of it!

One area which I have been enjoying herringbone the most is on the floor! I am not talking your old school parquet floor, I am referring to a fresh, new way to lay down hardwood or tiles. This takes parquet flooring to a different level; colours and styles are more up to date due to the use of larger sized planks and tiles. What do you think of the herringbone look?

I like it! Definitely something to think about when we consider re-tiling. Do you think it could work in a small space like our 2nd floor bathroom?

Most definitely! I would suggest a smaller size tile for that. But it would still work! It gives pattern and interest without being too in your face (if you do tone on tone colour).

    Dear Krista,

I was interested in the artwork (grey horse on black background) in the dining room photo. Do you know how I might find it?

Obviously it's a great design and decor home you have made and thanks for sharing to us.
