For those of you who follow me on Instagram, you will have noticed I did some traveling last weekend. My fabulous (and generous) parents decided to take myself and my bridal team to New York City to shop for bridesmaid dresses. It was a whirlwind of a weekend but one I will never forget. My dad was patient as can be while he watched the girls shop and twirl in dresses. He is really one of a kind. One thing I regret is not taking a photo of the entire group in the Big Apple, so I will have to settle for the mental images. I guess I was too busy snapping my surroundings while I was there. What a place for design inspiration!
Bright and early, ready to board the plane. |
My parents choose the unique Gramercy Park Hotel for our stay. It was full of design eye candy for visitors and local New Yorkers alike. I have used some photos from their website to show you, in a clearer view, of how beautiful the spaces were because my pictures seem a bit blurred. My take on this hotel, like I mentioned on my Instagram, it’s interiors are like a big warm hug. Desginer, Julian Schnabel, engulfs you in luxury, warmth, earthy smells, interesting art and high end finishes. It felt like we transported ourselves from the city streets of NYC to a quaint castle in Europe.

If you are planning a trip to NYC, this hotel is definitely one to consider. Our only concern with the accommodations is the hotel needs to decide if it’s a night club or a hotel. We found after 10 pm, the gears shifted to their night crowd. We were not well respected in the hotel bar, even with a reservation and being hotel guests! Also, my parents found it loud with the club music bumping and their suite on the 7th floor. And one last tid bit, there is only free WiFi in the lobby! Personally, with a high end hotel such as this, you should at the very least be giving your WiFi away to your guests. Isn’t that a hotel industry standard these days?
