One last exterior post till moving to the interior…
Personally, I have been searching for a house with a front porch. It was not a necessary “must have” for this house, but was definitely an added bonus! I look forward to quiet summer nights on the porch, with the sounds of the crickets and wind in the trees. It’s a feeling that reminds me of my parents home; the smells and sounds gives me instant comfort! Not only that, but the porch becomes an extension of the home. Due to it’s pint size, maximizing on extra living space it key to my new dwelling!
I haven’t yet decided what type of furniture I would like to have in the front; a swinging bench? Two Muskoka chairs and a side table? A small settee or love seat? For those of you that do have front porches, what is your favorite part about the porch? Has some furniture served better than others? I need your input on this one!

I like a combo of the first and second image – but maybe it's just the colours I love 😉 I personally find that a porch that has soft seating and the option to recline is always useful – whether that be a set of Muskoka chairs with seat cushions and an ottoman, or an upholstered bench/loveseat (although not a major fan of the rattan look). Wouldn't you love to take a wee nap on the porch with a good book? 🙂 I would. Besides, an ottoman offers extra seating. That's my two cents!

I like the colours as well in those images. I am leaning towards soft seating as well. It seems most practical and non committal!
Hey Krista! This is great, something to consider, will you want to enjoy eating el fresco on your lovely porch, something to consider. We enjoy many a meal on ours with bamboo blinds for privacy. I love living vicariously through you on this project. All creative thought and no labour on my end! perfect! Aimee
Thanks Aimee! Didn't think of the blind idea so thanks for the tip! I can picture myself out there with a cup of green tea and breakie! I am so excited about this feature. It was another selling point for me!
