Interior Design Show 2013 – My Review

January 29, 2013

The Interior Design Show 2013 did not disappoint. Not only did it still encompass the fun vibe that it is known for, but it also had a fabulous line up of celebrity designers and those alike! Similar to last year, the show was at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. What I loved about the repeat venue is that the layout remained the same. All the vendors were in the same spot as the year before which allowed for easy navigation throughout the massive space. If you are looking for a show to get inspired and see cool ideas for your home, this is the one. Remember that for next year cause this year’s show has come and gone. Just for you, however, I will show you some of the highlights I think are worthy of a mention….

This Erthcoverings tufted panel would be impressive as an entire wall in
a restaurant or a club. Or to be more creative, maybe in a bathroom or outdoor space?
It can be painted any colour!

I fell in love with the wall colour and how it made the furniture look more
linear and chic. Nice idea Bo Concept!

Casa Life displayed a sculptured, vertical display/storage shelf.

This artist, Eva Bartha, of Laser Creative, really caught my interest! Not only
did she seem very down to earth, her laser cutting projects were so intricate and
innovative! Right down to the business card she gave out! Here is a back lit lamp
(not turned on) with a scene lasered out of a wood veneer.

These wool felt panels are the perfect “peek-a-boo” panels for a child’s bedroom!
Custom designs are available and provides room black out!

Sabina Hill played on the native culture in her art. It was all breath taking and
cleverly designed.
And, finally, Ikea had another impressive kitchen design. Ikea knows how to win over their
cliental by showing off what actually can be done (if you have a huge team with some
mad skills, but still)…
Pretty cool chandelier Ikea. Ikea hackers would love this!
These Axor sinks have created a sculptural feel to the every day object.
Sorry for the awkward photo…they were hanging on the wall!
