Movember Seeps Into Home Decor

November 20, 2013

The month of Movember is here and actually more than half way over. Ladies can now sigh with relief. Personally, it doesn’t phase me either way. Maybe it is because my father sports his moustache all year long. Actually, it’s been my entire life. It’s normal for me, or perhaps he is hiding the fact he has no upper lip? Coincidentally, my fiance also enjoys playing with different styles of facial hair all year long. It doesn’t have to be a certain month for him to rock a moustache, full beard or god knows what. My point is, I think that facial hair is a fun accessory for men. Movember is a month where they can take themselves less seriously (and perhaps fund raise for a good cause while they are at it!).

Here is my dad with his 30 year + moustache. This was taken about 5 years ago. Mind the selfie angle.

Now, what gets my beef is some of the moustache paraphernalia.  I mean, some of it’s cute and quite humorous. A few years ago, I found this moustache comb. (And may I note…moustache is the English way spelling. Mustache is the US version. I am just going with my gut on this one).
The baby pacifier actually hits my funny bone, but it’s more so the introduction of home decor and moustaches.

I guess we can treat the use of moustaches around our home as seasonal decor? We can put away the Halloween decorations and pull out the Movember box just before Christmas hits? I can get down with that, but everyday, all-the-time moustache decor is not something I could get into. Maybe I am taking this too seriously. I guess it could replace the iconic lips pillow? I am not sure those are acceptable either.

Okay…this one is also clever.

As we always say, eventually styles come back around. My dad would be happy to know that he is very on trend and still really cool 🙂
