NYC and The Colour Purple

August 22, 2013

It’s Thursday morning and I am heading back to work after being on vacation since last Friday. Oh, the reality of work after some time off, right? Though, I can’t complain. I was able to enjoy the hot days and long summer nights both here in Ontario, and down in New York City.

NYC’s The Home Depot. Isn’t it beautiful?
My stepmom allowed me to tag along on with her during a buying trip for her boutique, Saltridges. (Psst – If you aren’t already following Saltridges, you really should! Nancy posts all about the newest trends of beauty care, with your health in mind!) Anyways, it was a fabulous trip, not only for the food, wine, shopping and the company, but it gave me an insiders scoop on the up and coming trends that we will see next year.  One trend, which we are currently seeing today, is the colour purple. Purples is here to stay for another year.

The newest Bedhead collection for Saltridges. Coming just in time for the holiday season.
Notice the purple!

All shades of purple are still huge, both in fashion, as well as home goods and fabrics. Purple. Violet. Lavender. Eggplant. You will continue to see this colour in various degrees next year. Perhaps more muted, with grey undertones, to keep away from an extreme vibrant purple. Here is a great colour palette for you to understand the understated purple’s I am referring too.

Keep purple as an accent colour in your decor. It’s a great colour for an accent wall, throw pillows, an upholstered chair or a great piece of art. And remember, it’s also great in your wardrobe.
