Clients often ask me, what is the current trend in kitchen cabinetry? There has been a major shift from an all wood kitchen, to now, painted cabinetry; All white or “mix and match” kitchen has been in demand for the past few years. This is pretty obvious to anyone who flips through a design magazine. Do I think this trend is going away? Certainly not any time soon.

The White Kitchen
A white kitchen has made a serious dent in the cabinetry world. It’s classic look can lend itself to traditional, contemporary and even modern. This is why it is the “safe” option when homeowners are concerned with resale of their home. Consider a warm white like Benjamine Moore’s CC-40 Cloud White, or a greyish white like CC-50 White Down.

The Mix and Match Kitchen
If you are a little more adventurous and want to steer away from all white kitchen, mix and matching may be the style for you! Kitchens have moved away from everything matching. It’s not a new trend but is still holding strong in the industry. Having the island a different colour or material, switching up counter top colours and adding in coloured accents are still ways to keep the your kitchen unique and different.
