Toronto’s One Of A Kind Spring Show 2013

April 1, 2013

I hope everyone had a fabulous Easter weekend, whatever it consisted of. I had the joy of attending the Toronto’s One Of A Kind Show on Saturday with my Mom. It was the perfect afternoon of quality time and some serious shopping. My Mom and I have different shopping styles; I like to scan and continue moving, where mom is a bit more thorough. I did appreciate her patience at the show, as it allowed me to stop and inquire about things I likely would have missed. So Mom, I thank you.

When reviewing tradeshows, I like to feature my best pick of the bunch. I noticed the vendors I wrote about last year, had all returned to this year’s show, which was really great to see! (see HERE if you missed last year’s review). They still have great stuff but let’s spread the love around on some new artists this time. An exciting element to this year’s show was the curated Etsy section, which housed, none other than hand picked Etsy artists.

The Etsy Section

This gal, Breanne, founded White Feather Designs and hails from Burlington, Ontario. She has some really interesting pieces, including her vertebra cuff links. And would you believe it if I told you that Nick bought me a piece of her collection for Christmas last year! It took me a while to put it together but her style was very distinguishable. It’s a piece I love, and get many compliments on. You must check her jewellery out!

Other artisans and shops that caught my eye seemed to have much in common, after looking through my photos. There seems to be a similar element of earthy elements, white hues and pastel colour tones. I think it’s the excitement and freshness of spring that attracted me to these booths. Well, that and the craftsmanship.

This Is J‘s booth first attracted me for it’s decor (naturally!), but
their scarves, toques and pj’s were also super cute!

Atelier Trema blew me away with these ingenious handmade,
sculptural bird feeders.

Hugo Didier‘s round, ceramic coat hooks were clever and decorative.

Greg Voisin Pottery‘s pottery had a delicate yet, funky twist to it’s design.
I loved the simplicity and quirkiness of his hand rendered imagery.

Alas, it’s hard to pick only a few of the many talented artists that come from a far for this show. It was definitely worth the road trip, as I was able to pick up a few unique gifts for those I love.
Thanks again to the One of A Kind Show for all their hard work and a job well done! (And, of course, for the fabulous ticket giveaway!)
