Hi readers! I am here… finally. I do have to apologize for my lack of posting these days. Between KMSalter Design going full time last September and planning a wedding for July (it’s so soon!), I have found it tough to sit in one place. Here I am, though. I am going to try my hardest to keep you well informed on what’s happening in the design world these days. But before that, can I just gloat about how fun my bachelorette party was a few weekends ago? Not only did I have a large group of my gal pals all in one place up north, we also were blessed with the best weather from Mother Nature. Sometimes, you just get really lucky. This year, I feel the luckiest!
Okay, back to design stuff…
A friend of mine recently turned me on to Lonny Magazine, a cool online design mag. In the magazine today, there was an interesting article about a company called WorkOf. The article spoke to me because WorkOf has a similar philosophy about design and furniture as I do. They focus on artisan designers, who are crafting furniture and home decor pieces that encompass quality and pure design techniques. They are offering a platform for home owners, like us, to purchase interesting, unique pieces that we would not otherwise find in the major stores. Additionally, it allows us to invest in our communities and local artists. I love the idea that they are putting forward and I believe that this will become more of a mainstream norm, as it has through Etsy. WorkOf is a niche site for furniture designers and artisans who believe in the notion of art, design and quality. Take a look at some of the pieces that stood out to me from their site.
